Hey Katie,

I'm flattered that Tiffany would do that! My graphics and photos were obtained through http://www.sxc.hu/. The images aren't as good as those that you have to pay for, but it did fine for my project. I also used Power Point instead of keynote. Keynote is more designer friendly, but if you already know what you want, PPT will get the job done. Best of luck!

Hello from J452, fall 2009! Tiffany pointed us to your presentation as a great example; we're prepping our projects right now and seeing yours was so helpful! I'm curious about your graphics/photos - I thought they were awesome! Where did you find them? Any tips you could offer would be hugely appreciated :) Thanks, Bryan!

I've been using Google Docs for 3 years. My documents still get corrupted. I found your site looking for "Google Docs Corrupted" The 2 methods they suggest for recovery DO NOT WORK... Google's message:

We were unable to upload this document because of this error:

Sorry, that file is corrupt, or an unknown format.

This error message comes from the converter we're using, and hopefully tells you what you need to know to fix the problem.

If not, and you have the desktop word processor installed on this system, there are two other easy ways to upload the document to Google Docs:

Using the Clipboard
Open the document in the desktop word processor.
Type Ctrl-A to select the contents of the entire document.
Type Ctrl-C to copy it to the clipboard.
In Google Docs, create a new document.
When the Edit window appears, type Ctrl-V to paste it in.
Save as HTML
Open the document in the desktop word processor.
Choose File > Save As...
In the dialog that appears, select Web Page (*.htm; *.html) for the "Save as type."
Save the file, and make a note of the file name and folder, as you'll need it next.
In Google Docs, choose Upload again from the main page.
This time, specify the html file you just made in the desktop word processor.
Using either of these approaches, you should now have the document open in Google Docs.

Try having a bit of background music while you're speaking over the B-roll, just as an experiment.
You'll learn to be more comfortable in front of the camera as you keep doing this...your words seem a bit rushed and nervous, otherwise you're fine as a host.
If you say you're a horrible host, people might look for bits that make you horrible before they even start watching...
Keep in mind that the tiny url is not to be fancy — it is to significantly shorten the length of the url.
That's true, but my point was that the custom TinyURL wasn't necessary, and I think it caused part of the link to be cut off. I'm sure if you would have just went with something like http://tinyurl.com/onbs8z as opposed to http://tinyurl.com/UONewPresident, it probably wouldn't have done that.

I am sorry if the post seems harsh. I think you guys are doing good work, and I enjoy the tweets you guys send out.

Hi Bryan,
I work in web communications at the University of Oregon, and I'm the one who tweeted about Richard Lariviere's blog. Your thoughts about this are really good. Thanks for trying to re-tweet the link. Your point is well taken -- any tweet by us should be easily re-tweetable. And we will keep that mind moving forward. The actual link for the blog entry is http://newpres.uoregon.edu/2009/05/12/pure-scholarship-one-of-greatest-pleasures-of-teaching-life/. Your troubles stem from the fact that twitter will hyperlink a tiny url even if the complete url would force the message over the 140 character limit. Keep in mind that the tiny url is not to be fancy -- it is to significantly shorten the length of the url. It actually is, as you say, an attempt at function over form. Thanks again for trying to re-tweet. Next time, we'll make sure you can do it.

You have to make an account, but it's simple.
You can make a Google account with any e-mail address. Add addresses to the "Share" list. They will be sent to the inbox and a corresponding link will tae you to the Google doc. However, not until an individual makes the Google account will the documents be alterable. It's only a 1.5 minute process. You have access to everything except for GMail, itself. I'm sorry this doesn't help much.

You can delete this comment after reading it. Best of luck.
